Waldorf University to host first annual Music Career Day

Waldorf University will host the first annual music career day on Wednesday, March 13. The event will run from 2-9 p.m. with a feature keynote presentation from composer Ben Allaway. A Music Career Day Concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Boman Fine Arts Center located at 225 John K. Hanson Dr. Forest City, IA. and will highlight the Waldorf University Wind Symphony, Schola Cantorum and Waldorf Choir. The career day afternoon events are free to interested students. The evening concert is open to the general public at no cost. Individuals interested in attending can register at waldorf.edu/music-career-day-registration/.

Waldorf University to host “Reel Rock 13” rock climbing/mountaineering independent film festival

Waldorf University will host a screening of the “Reel Rock 13” independent film festival on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Boman Fine Arts Center located at 225 John K. Hanson Dr., Forest City, IA. The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Students can attend for free. There is a $5 entry fee for the general public. There will be an intermission with raffle prizes including autographed images from featured climbers, climbing passes to area climbing facilities, and Waldorf University gear.

Waldorf University’s Knit Wits to participate in American Heart Association Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign for a second year

Waldorf University’s knitting club, Knit Wits, is once again partnering with the American Heart Association Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign to donate handcrafted red hats to newborn and prematurely-born babies. The event will run throughout the month of February. Led by Knit Wits president, Elizabeth DeYoung, last year the club was able to donate 291 handcrafted red hats.

Tonja Ihlenfeldt featured artist at Waldorf University gallery

Waldorf University will host an artist reception for local artist Tonja Ihlenfeldt on Thursday, January 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the university gallery located at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, Iowa. The gallery doors will open at 6:30 p.m. to allow individuals to view Ihlenfeldt’s work. Ihlenfeldt’s pieces will be on display until March 1.

Waldorf University will host a speaking event for the 2018 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Aileen Sullivan, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Salveson Ballroom located at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, Iowa. Area teachers and administrators, pre-service teachers, and others who are interested are invited to this inspiring session. High school students interested in a career in education are especially encouraged to attend.
