FREMONT, Neb. – Waldorf Track & Field competed in the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Midland University on May 1-2. Between the men's and women's teams, Waldorf returned home with three All-Conference athletes: Eliza McKown (800m and 1500m), Madison Mulhall (100m hurdles and heptathlon), and Donte Brown (high jump).
The top three relay teams receive All-Conference recognition. The top eight finishers in all other events receive All-Conference recognition.
Brown finished in 8th place in the high jump, scoring 1 point for this team. He also ran the 4x100 with Cole Armstrong, Jordan Jones, and Robay Birri. The relay team placed 8th for another team point.
Men's Track and Field finished the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 10thplace with 2 points.
McKown finished in second place in the 800m with a time of 2:14.62, earning 8 points for the team. She placed 6th in the 1500m with 4:44.06, posting another 3 points for the team. McKown, who qualified for NAIA Outdoor Nationals a week ago, will travel to Asheville, North Carolina to compete in the 800m on May 20-22.
Mulhall's impressive performances across the heptathlon events earned her a 3rd place finish with 4321 points, a personal record by almost 1000 points, scoring 6 points for her team. Her event finishes were as follows:
- 200m: 25.99 for 1st place (798 points)
- 800m: 2:29.92 for 3rd place (700 points)
- 100mH: 15.31 for 3rd place (801 points)
- High jump: 1.49m for 5th place (610 points)
- Long jump: 4.69m for 8th place (477 points)
- Shot put: 9.87m for 4th place (521 points)
- Javelin: 26.67m for 8th place (414 points)
After these events, Mulhall raced in the 100mH separately from the qualifying race for the heptathlon. She finished in 8th place with a time of 15.05 for 1 more team point scored.
With a team score of 18, Women's Track and Field finished the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 10th place.
Both teams have one more shot at qualifying for NAIA Nationals at an upcoming last chance meet.
