HASTINGS, Neb. – The Waldorf Women's Wrestling team traveled to Hastings College for the GPAC Conference Tournament on Saturday, February 28. The team finished in 4thplace, scoring 90 points. Four wrestlers placed in the top 3 of their weight class, and three earned spots in the NAIA National Tournament.

At 103, Mackenzie Gilbert finished 2-1, placing second and qualifying for nationals. Edyn Hartman wrestled at 110 and finished 1-3 for 6th place.

For the 131 weight-class, Neve Barragan went 4-1 and finished her last match in a decision for 3rd place. Izzy Urban also wrestled at 131 and went 4-2 to place in 5th. At 138, Emily Hibner ended the day 1-3 for 6th place.

Niah Smith and Renee Miguel won the second-place spots for their weight classes. At 145, Smith went 2-1, losing her last match to the first-place wrestler by a tech fall but still winning a ticket to nationals. At 160, Miguel also went 2-1, winning her first two matches by a tech fall and a fall in 1:47 and losing to the first-place wrestler by a tech fall.

In the 207 weight-class, Skyler Bruno and Olivia Burciaga both ended the day at 2-2. Bruno fell to the third-place wrestler in 2:29, finishing in 4th place with a trip to nationals. Burciaga won her last match for 5th place with a fall in 1:49.

Gilbert, Smith, and Bruno head to the 4th Annual NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship on March 13-14, 2026 in Wichita, Kan.
