Waldorf University’s Distinguished Visiting Writer Series presents Wyatt Townley, Poet Laureate of Kansas Emeritus, on Wednesday, April 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Odvin Hagen Recital Hall.
 
Townley will present “Coming Home” which will explore the concept of home in a shifting world: What is it? Where is it? 
 
“We are very excited to welcome Wyatt to Waldorf,” said Tim Bascom, Waldorf University assistant professor and director of creative writing. He and Dr. Bryan Stanley, professor, pianist and composer at Waldorf, have collaborated to arrange this cross-disciplinary event. 
 
“We are very fortunate to have someone of Wyatt’s caliber as part of our series,” Dr. Stanley said. “Not only will the audience be able to hear her poetry, but we’ve also blended her work with original music compositions. We’re sure this event will appeal to all ages and interests.”
 
Townley’s work has appeared in venues ranging from National Public Radio (NPR) to The Paris Review to Newsweek. Several of her poems are set to song by Dr. Stanley, who has music published by G. Schirmer, Hal Leonard, and Boosey & Hawkes. The song settings will be performed by Waldorf music students.
