The Waldorf University History Department will be hosting its 7^th annual History Symposium on March 28, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the Atrium on campus. 
 
“We are extremely excited to present the 7^th Annual History Symposium, with featured speaker Dr. Joseph A. Amato,” said Kevin Mason, instructor of history at Waldorf University. “Dr. Amato is a major presence in the field of historical methodology and we are very fortunate to have him coming to Waldorf.”
 
Dr. Amato is a noted teacher, public speaker, scholar and author of approximately 20 books including: Rethinking Home, Jacob’s Well and Everyday Life. Dr. Amato will speak about the three elements of local and regional history: family history, local and regional history and everyday life, and use illustrations and vivid anecdotes from his books to explain these historical components.
 
“We’re also very fortunate to have local writer, Dana Yost, as part of this year’s symposium,” Mason said. “Like Dr. Amato, Dana has a passion for Midwestern history, so he will be a great addition to our event.”
 
Yost recently launched his latest book, 1940: Journal of a Midwestern Town, Story of an Era. The book is as much about the significance of 1940 as it is about the everyday life in Minnesota and the farms around it told through the eyes, voices and memories of the people living in the Upper Midwest. 
 
The Symposium is open to the public and free of charge. Both authors will have books available for purchase after the event.
