FOREST CITY, August 25, 2017 – Waldorf University is pleased to announce the addition of two online academic program directors.
Dr. Eric Steelman has been named the online program director for the healthcare management program, and Denny Gilbertson has joined Waldorf as the online program director for the business program.
“We are pleased to add Professors Steelman and Gilbertson to our online team,” said Waldorf University President Dr. Robert Alsop. “Both are highly qualified in their fields and will be excellent resources and mentors for our online students.”
Dr. Eric Steelman, Online Program Director – Healthcare Management Program
Dr. Steelman has worked in healthcare for nearly 15 years and brings unique perspectives to the program director position. He has worked in CBRN public health and comparative medicine research, biological and clinical safety, and currently serves as the senior specialist for quality improvement and accreditation at a large academic medical center.
Dr. Steelman’s research focuses on safety attitudes and perceptions, quality improvement and health policy. Within the realm of health policy, Dr. Steelman is interested in the relationship between health literacy and the quality of care and safety of patients. He holds a doctorate in health sciences (DHSc) and a master’s in public health (MPH) from A.T. Sill University, Kirksville, Mo. Dr. Steelman has been a part of the undergraduate and graduate faculty at Waldorf University since 2016.
Denny Gilbertson – Online Program Director - Business
Gilbertson brings a wide variety of work experiences in the business and sport management sectors to his new role at Waldorf University. Gilbertson has over 30 years of experience in higher education, including as an online adjunct professor for Waldorf since 2010, where he has taught over 20 different courses in the business and sport management programs.
Gilbertson also has entrepreneurial experience with the startup of two businesses, as well as work experience in the financial services industry with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and as a lead administrator at Beaverdale Estates Independent Living Community in Des Moines, Iowa.
Gilbertson earned a master's degree in athletic administration from Minnesota State University-Mankato, a MBA from Columbia Southern University, and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), Cedar Falls, Iowa.
