We understand that military students often have unique questions about enrollment, benefits, and flexibility—especially when balancing service commitments, family responsibilities, and long-term career goals. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Enrollment and Degree Planning

Will I receive a degree plan before I enroll?

Yes. You will be provided with a degree plan prior to enrollment so you can understand your program requirements and path to completion.

Can I enroll if I am stationed outside the United States?

Yes. Waldorf’s online programs are accessible worldwide, allowing you to continue your education regardless of duty station.

When does the next term start?

Waldorf offers multiple start dates throughout the year.

Tuition Assistance and Financial Aid

Can I use Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with Tuition Assistance (TA)?

Yes. In many cases, Federal Student Aid can be used in conjunction with Tuition Assistance.

Can I use FAFSA with VA education benefits?

Yes. Federal Student Aid may be used alongside VA benefits, depending on eligibility.

How do I request Tuition Assistance or VA funding?

Tuition Assistance requests are submitted through your branch’s education portal.
We recommend contacting your Military Education Center and Waldorf’s Warrior Support Center for guidance.

How do I cover costs beyond Tuition Assistance for graduate programs?

Students may explore options such as Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or VA Top-Up benefits to cover remaining balances.

Military Credit and Academic Records

Will my military training count toward transfer credit?

Yes. Military training is evaluated for potential transfer credit.
Waldorf allows transfer of up to 75% of undergraduate coursework and up to 50% of graduate coursework, subject to program requirements.

Can Waldorf request my CLEP or DSST scores for me?

No. CLEP and DSST scores must be requested directly by the student.

Will my grades and degree be reported to the military portal?

Yes. Grades are reported within 10 business days after the term ends, and degrees are reported within 10 days of conferral.

VA and Military Documentation

How do I obtain a DD-214 or Certificate of Eligibility?

You can request these documents through the VA or your Educational Officer.
They are also available through your VA portal (eBenefits).

Can I take courses outside my degree program using TA or VA benefits?

No. To remain compliant with Department of Defense and VA guidelines, courses must apply to your approved degree program.

Is Waldorf a Yellow Ribbon school?

Yes. Waldorf participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program; however, most online tuition rates are already below the threshold where additional Yellow Ribbon funding is needed.

Online Learning and Student Experience

Are Waldorf programs fully online?

Yes. Waldorf is a distance learning provider, and degree programs can be completed 100% online.

Will textbooks ship to APO addresses?

Yes. Required textbooks can be shipped to APO addresses for students stationed overseas.
