Biography
Born and raised in eastern Montana, Dr. Britton-Johnson came to Iowa via both Washington state and Texas. Dr. Britton-Johnson’s primary research is in Holocaust drama and the representation of female camp guards (Aufsherinnen) on stage and screen. Her thesis and dissertation have been included in the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Archives in Israel.
Prior to coming to Waldorf, Dr. Britton-Johnson was an adjunct professor and senior academic advisor at Texas Tech University for the Pre-Professional Health Careers department. She has also served as an online course designer for Texas Tech University with the Integrative Studies department.
Dr. Britton-Johnson began teaching for Waldorf in 2015 and teaches various fine arts
classes, including Elizabethan and Restoration theatre, Classical Theatre History, Lighting Design, Costume Design, Theatre Management, Artistic Expression, and Stage Makeup. Her online teaching also includes teaching Speech Communications. She has also directed 20 productions at Waldorf and designed for over 36 and counting!
In her free time, Dr. Britton-Johnson enjoys music, reading historical fiction, watching documentaries, and spending time with her husband, three children, and four dogs.
