Theatre Camp is a yearly retreat at the beginning of the academic year where students gather to meet and start the season. Theatre Camp is a requirement for all students who are on a theatre scholarship (including those students who have a fine arts scholarship with a theatre component). Theatre Camp is open to all Waldorf students who are interested in participating in theatre during the academic year.
Activities
- Hosting auditions & casting for the first show of the 2024 season: “Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward
- Assigning new and returning students to technical shops
- Group participation events
- Fellowship bonding activities
- Department organization and preparation for the upcoming, exciting 2023-2024 season!
Camp Dates
Theatre Camp runs August 7-9. The camp will end in time to accommodate the attendance of other academic or fine arts camps.
Check-in
All students participating in theatre camp will report to the Atrium on Tuesday, August 6, starting at 10 a.m. to register with the appropriate university offices and fill out needed forms. Registration CANNOT be done unless students have previously filled out the theatre camp registration form in advance.
- Students will check-in with Waldorf Theatre Directors, Dr. Robert AuFrance and Dr. Marla Britton-Johnson, or an assistant to the theatre department to confirm camp attendance
- Students will check-in with key offices for housing assignments, school-issued computers, financial arrangements, etc.
- Housing move-in
- Theatre Camp's first event is dinner at 5 p.m. in the Waldorf Dining Hall, on the second floor of the Campus Information Center (CIC). After dinner, students will meet in Smith Theatre at 6 p.m. for a company meeting and introductions
Fees
A one-time $75 fee will be assessed to your student account. This fee covers the associated meals, materials and early-move in for Theatre Camp. For more information, contact either Dr. AuFrance or Dr. Britton-Johnson.
