We partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts, Inc.) to produce an Oral History Publication for Waldorf in celebration of our 125th Anniversary, 1903-2028. All alums are invited to participate. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas, Texas that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation for over 100 years. Waldorf has worked with them for several directory projects. This project allows us to hear about your personal experiences from your time at Waldorf, and hear how Waldorf helped shape your life. And, while we have you on the phone, we want to make sure your contact information is up to date.

Does Waldorf University benefit from this at all?

Yes, in a few different ways: Updated Information– allows us to communicate with you and plan programs for you Legacy– sharing and collecting stories preserves the history of Waldorf for this milestone Revenue– generates revenue for alumni programs, the Waldorf University Magazine, Homecoming and in person and virtual events.

How do I know my information will only be used for Oral History Project purposes?

PCI is committed to protecting your information. Our experience is they are very good with data security. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Oral History Project will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Oral History Project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion of the project, PCI will redact Personal Identifiable Information from any and all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Oral History Project.

I would like to verify or update my information and share a story. How may I do this?

If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, please call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Oral History Project. The representative will verify some basic data elements from the alumni information we have on file for you, make any updates where needed, and then ask you to share your story about your time at the school. Your story will be recorded and the sound clip provided to Waldorf at the conclusion of the project. If you have received an email with an embedded link, you may go to the online site to review your information and submit a story.

Can I choose what personal information gets printed in the publication?

The only information that is included in the publication is your name and class year, along with your story and photo. No contact information is printed; this is not a directory project. When you call to update your contact information, it will only be used to update your alumni record for Waldorf. You may revoke consent for your story and/or photo to appear any time before the end of the updating phase by contacting PCI’s customer service helpdesk at 800.982.1590 orcustomerservice@publishingconcepts.com.

I shared a story and the representative said I could send a photo. How do I do this?

You will receive an email with a link to upload one photo (black and white or color) plus a caption. If you have also purchased a book but do not have an email address on file, you will be sent a photo mailer to send a physical photo in to be printed (note: the photo will be returned if you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope).

Can anyone purchase a book?

The Waldorf University Oral History Publication is available for sale to Waldorf University and Waldorf College alums only.

Oral History Project

We’re launching a special oral history project to capture the moments that define our community – and we want to hear yours.

This is your chance to share your experience in your own words. Whether it’s a memory of a mentor who challenged you to lead courageously or a moment of discovery in the genuine work of your field, your voice helps preserve our history.

When the project is complete, these stories will be gathered into a commemorative book – real, tangible reflection of the Waldorf University journey.

We’re working with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to bring this initiative to life. As they help us collect these stories, they’ll also ensure your contact information is current so we can keep you connected to what’s next at Waldorf.

Waldorf Warriors share a common story: a hands-on, practical education that truly seeks to educate the whole person. But every Warrior's journey is unique. Our alums have incredible stories of vocation, community involvement, families, careers and accomplishments—and we want to hear yours.

As we celebrate our Quasquicentennial– the 125^th anniversary of Waldorf's founding in 1903–the alumni relations staff in the Office of Engagement and Advancement want to give you an opportunity to help us preserve and celebrate the stories that make Waldorf special.

Through this oral history project, alums will have the opportunity to share their unique experiences and share their memories in their own words. Once the collection is complete, these stories will be compiled in a book that celebrates our alumni, our community and our history.

We are partnering with PCI, the organization we have worked with on several Waldorf Alumni Directories, with the most recent one being published in 2021.

A lot has changed at Waldorf since then–and we want to capture that story, too. Since the 2021 directory project, the Waldorf Lutheran College Foundation has become the owner of Waldorf University, and we rebuilt a comprehensive alumni database.

As part of this project, PCI will assist us in collecting updated biographical and professional information from alumni so we can better stay connected with our growing Warrior community.

How to Share Your Story

Alums will receive a postcard and email from PCI on behalf of Waldorf University with more information about the oral history project and how you can participate.

Stories will be collected through a phone call with PCI staff who has been trained to collect oral histories. During your call, you'll have the opportunity to share your Waldorf memories, experiences and life story in your own words.

We know there are alums who would love to participate but may not have received a postcard or email because we no longer have your current contact information.

What to look for:

PCI is currently contacting Waldorf alumni by sending postcards and emails. If you receive one, simply follow the instructions to update your contact information and schedule a time to share your story with PCI oral history staff member.
