FOREST CITY, IOWA, Sept. 12, 2018 – Tiffany Olson, Waldorf University Associate Professor of Communications, chosen as one of five finalists in the Jordan Wine Bottle Poster Contest: Bring the Le Tour de Melchior to Life.

Olson has loved art and design since the day she could hold her first crayon. She could often be found drawing or doodling growing up. As a professional, she continued to carry that passion into the workplace. After graduating with a B.A. from Waldorf College, Olson worked as a graphic designer for a technology/design firm in North Mankato, Minn. In this position she worked on a wide range of projects that included both print production and web development. Olson went on to pursue a career in teaching graphic design. She earned her M.F.A. in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. While completing her thesis she was hired by Waldorf University.

“This poster was a way for me to “practice what I teach” and gave me the opportunity to put my creativity to the test. I thoroughly enjoyed designing it,” Olson said. Olson teaches Graphic Core, Publication Design, History of Graphic Design, Typography and Web Design at Waldorf. She is the advisor of The Torch magazine (the campus student magazine) and recently joined the Communications and Honors faculty in leading a group of Waldorf students in the study abroad program.

“The style in which Jordan Vineyard & Winery was requesting the poster be created in was Art Nouveau. So, needless to say, two things that I thoroughly enjoy, wine and Art Nouveau, is what inspired me to enter,” Olson said. The Jordan Wine Bottle Poster Contest: Bring the Le Tour de Melchior to Life is Jordan Vineyard & Winery’s first poster contest to help create artwork for a limited-edition poster commemorating the release of a rare 2014 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon offered in 18-liter Melchoir wine bottles. The Jordan Vineyard & Winery was founded in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan in Californian’s bourgeoning wine country with a hope of creating a single Cabernet Sauvignon.

Olson finished fourth in points in the competition. “When I found out I was in the top five I was thrilled,” Olson said. “After the winner and the finalists were revealed on their blog, I felt honored to be in the top five, because the competition was amazing.”
