Green Week
March 15-19, 2010
The Waldorf College "Go Green" Committee is excited to announce its first annual "Green Week." Our mission is to engage, educate, and enliven the Waldorf College community by focusing and acting on matters of sustainability and concern for the environment.
SCHEDULE:
Monday, March 15:
- Convocation: "Sustainability, Higher Education and Climate Change" - Dr. Jim Martin-Schramm, professor of religion at Luther College - 10:15 a.m., (Atrium),
public welcome
- Waste installation in Atrium - all day, (Atrium)
Tuesday, March 16:
- Service project: tree drive - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Seed planting, sponsored by Student Senate - 10 a.m.
Wednesday, March 17:
- "Green" Chapel featuring student Andrew Hunt - 10:30 a.m., (Recital Hall)
- Green Fair - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., (Atrium)
- Sustainability Speaker — 2p.m., (Small Pit, Nillsen-Boe Science Hall)
Andrew Snow, Policy Advocate for the Environmental Law & Policy Center and Campaign Director for Iowa Global Warming Campaign. Mr. Snow has worked for the Environmental Law & Policy Center for over 2 years. Before joining the Environmental Law & Policy Center, Mr. Snow worked for 3 years on the Sierra Club National Political Team.

Thursday, March 18:
- Electronics Collection Event , 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

- Service project: tree drive - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Seed planting, sponsored by Student Senate - 10 a.m.
- Paperless grading workshop for faculty - 3 p.m., (Small Pit, Nillsen-Boe Science Hall)
- "Green" readings with Professor Joe Wilkins - 6 p.m., (Small Pit, Nillsen-Boe Science Hall)
- "Green" tours with Dr. Paul Bartelt, professor of biology - 1 p.m., (Atrium).
Join Dr. Bartelt for a tour of the Forest City area green achievements, including wind turbines, a local landfill which incorporates methane gas as a power option, and a river buffer which improves water quality. RSVP to barteltp@waldorf.edu to reserve a spot on the van. Wear closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
Friday, March 19:
- "Power Down" in Residence Halls, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Paperless forms workshop for staff and community- 2 p.m., (Small Pit, Nillsen-Boe Science Hall)
